Battersea Park is announcing the return of The Affordable Art Fair, where there is no requirement for consumers to be billionaires or art connoisseurs to obtain original artworks. The fair will be open to the public from October 22 to October 25, with an opening charity private view on Wednesday, October 21. This event includes many activities, such as art-buying and art-viewing, as well as workshops, expert advice talks and more.
The Affordable Art Fair was first introduced in Battersea Park in 1999 by Will Ramsay. The art fair was created by galleries who incorporated easily accessible art for the everyday consumer. Today Battersea Park's Affordable Art Fair includes 110 galleries with 1,100 artists ready for you to view their works of art.
The art fair offers several other forms of activities that will immerse yourself in the art world. Workshops consists of hands on experience with sensory social sketching, kinetic sculptures and chemigram prints. A fun workshop called Drink and Draw will be offered on Thursday, October 22nd (6:30-7:30pm) where art tutors will provide tips and tricks to those who attend, all the while indulge the experience with a wonderful cocktail. Informal talks are also available, Annn Witheridge uncovers principles of composition and painting in oils implemented with still life, which will be on Friday, October 23 (4pm). On Sunday, October 25 (10:30-12pm) a live demonstration by London Fine Art Studios will exhibit a sitter painting a model from real life.
The art fair also provides a cafe and bar for visitors who needs to recharge after a couple of hours of activities and artviewing. The cafe presents delectable snacks that range from salads to carrot cakes and brownies. For the over 18s, there will be a gin and tonic bar run by Fever-Tree and Sipsmith. Fever-Tree creates great mixtures using fresh and natural ingredient. Sipsmith handcrafts great quality gin, home to Prudence, Patience and Constance.
If you are looking for fun and art this weekend, The Affordable Art Fair is the place to be.
